About
Most of you know I was born in Pakistan and moved to the U.S. at the age of 5. During summer breaks, I’d visit my home country with my mom, where we’d walk long distances to fetch buckets of clean water from a community well. The alternative was stagnant water or polluted rivers. As a kid, I didn’t think much of it, I didn’t realize how big the problem was.
As I grew older, I came to understand the severity of the water crisis in Pakistan, where a countless number of children die each year from contaminated water. This realization fueled my mission to help these communities gain access to clean water and improve their quality of life.
In December 2020, I started the Al-Sayed Foundation. The name reflects the values and identity of my family’s tribe. While the spelling differs from my last name, “Syed,” it’s due to how Urdu names are transliterated into English across regions. In Urdu (سید), the name remains the same, honoring my family’s roots and heritage.
Our Impact So Far
The foundation started as something small, a self-funded project I was passionate about. Since then, we’ve built 11 water projects across 6 countries, helping bring clean water to communities that really needed it. A big thank you to those of you who connected me with local leaders on the ground in these countries, I couldn’t have done this without you!
Here’s where we’ve built water projects so far:
Pakistan
Madagascar
Uganda
India
Bangladesh
Nepal
What started as a personal goal is slowly growing into something bigger. With the support of my friends and family, I’m excited to explore ways to expand this effort and bring clean water to more communities. If you’re curious about the work or want to learn how to get involved in the future, feel free to reach out, you can text me whenever!
As the foundation grows, I plan to ensure that every dollar raised goes directly to the communities we’re helping, and I’ll keep you updated along the way.
A message from me
Thank you for supporting me on this journey.
IIt’s been such a wild ride, there’s been a lot of trial and error, tons of WhatsApp messages trying to find the local communities to partner with, and figuring out how to actually get these wells built. But every step has been worth it.
For the most part, I’ve been funding this myself because it’s something I care deeply about. Over the past year, some of you have offered to pitch in, and honestly, that means the world to me. As I keep learning and connecting with the right people, I’ll be excited to involve you when the time is right.
I couldn’t have done this without the love and encouragement I’ve gotten from all of you!
